Gwenyn Gruffydd
Carmarthen, Cymru
Gwenyn Gruffydd was founded in 2010 when Gruffydd decided to follow his dream of keeping bees. Gruffydd was kindly given a hive of bees by a friend farming locally and it is from there the dream developed into a reality.
Gruffydd enrolled onto a beekeeping course in Carmarthenshire that year and the 1 hive in the back of his mum and dad's garden quickly multiplied into over 200 beehives, dotted around rural South Wales today.
The 100% pure, minimally filtered, unpasteurised (raw) Welsh honey that we produce has won numerous Great Taste Awards over the years and in 2024, our Welsh Wildflower Honey was awarded 3-stars meaning the judges class it as an 'exquisite extraordinarily tasty' honey.
Gruffydd cares for all of our bees and I, Angharad (Gruff's wife) takes care of the business and produce all of our pure beeswax candles in our candle making studio on our honey farm.

What started as 2 beehives in Gruffydd’s parents garden in 2010 over 14 years later is a successful honey and beekeeping company employing 4 full time members of staff, providing fantastic opportunities to work within the food farming sector. We manage 400 beehives across 3 counties, producing multi Award Winning Honey.
Based on our smallholding, we have been repurposing existing farm buildings to accommodate the growth of the business to process honey and capitalise the by-products utilising solar energy from the panels we’ve installed.
We choose our apiaries carefully, considering the quality of the nectar sources and work closely with farmers. With apiaries in the rolling hills and valleys of the Tywi Valley to the contrast of the Pembrokeshire Ceredigion coast, we have a specific set of rules when finding suitable sites to ensure we produce the highest quality honey. We are passionate in our pursuit of the sustainability of beekeeping, its traditions, methods and have a high criteria when sourcing honeys from known, trusted beekeepers.
We are dedicated to producing an exceptional product and are determined to educate consumers of the high quality Welsh ‘homegrown’ honey. We are passionate about being transparent with our customers, telling the strong story on how honey is produced and social media, including our YouTube channel behind the scenes videos is a crucial part of this, including featuring on S4C's Cefn Gwlad programme.
We are proud of the reputation our passion for extraordinary Welsh honey has established in Wales and through the UK via our online and the current economic climate has presented opportunities to look at other income streams including training over 50 individuals in 2024.
A husband and wife team with massive amount of passion for honeybees and honey.
