I think it’s safe to say we all love a snack but back in 2011 I felt there was something a little lacking in the snacks market. I started to think there was an opportunity to create a new range of high quality products at a decent price. Delicious, modern and a bit different.

With my wife Helen and our two sons Louis and Rorke, after much research, experimentation and heated discussion in our home kitchen, we started to achieve the results we were happy with. We tested our products at markets in and around Dorset to see if other snack fans agreed.

The response was fantastic: everyone adored what we’d made.

Things were going well until, out of the blue, in 2014, I was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and given a few months to live. This was a shock to say the least! But with support from my wonderful family and the outstanding medical team, I miraculously (and with much gratitude) recovered.

Unexpectedly, one of the foods I was allowed to eat during my treatment was pork crackling. I resolved that this traditional and beloved snack should be celebrated further. We all went back to the kitchen and obsessed over flavour, texture and the ‘crunch’.

We still enjoy working hard to improve the recipes for all our products - crackling, nuts, fudge - and take great care ensuring that they are ethically sourced and responsibly packaged. And although we are a family business, we are fully aware that our steady growth must not compromise quality or customer focus. We carefully manage every aspect of Robert’s from sourcing ingredients to logistics and dispatch.
