The story behind the business
Meet Tara Jane Ceramics

My career as a ceramic artist began in 2007. After many years in the fashion and clothing industry, it felt natural to return to the tactile nature of clay, where my creative passion had first begun.

My work draws inspiration from my family and my upbringing on a farm in South Africa. Over the years, it has evolved from intricate homeware to organic, natural forms for homes and gardens, reflecting my connection to nature and the environment.

I am fascinated by form and texture, and the way a surface comes alive after firing continues to inspire my creative process.

Influenced by the diverse wildlife and natural beauty of my garden, I craft frost-proof handmade garden ceramics—sculptures that are both practical and beautiful. These unique creations provide essential resources like food, water, and shelter for birds, bees, and hedgehogs. My range includes birdhouses, bird baths, bee hotels, cane toppers, and other thoughtfully designed pieces that enhance outdoor spaces with charm and functionality.
