This illustration was inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson's poem 'The Swing'
"How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!"
Also inspired by my own childhood memories of the swing my dad made for me under the apple tree, where I would spend many an hour gazing up at the clouds. This hand turned Limited Edition Letter Press print looks beautiful in a nursery or child's bedroom and I am often told makes a good talking point before bed of the child's own play that day. Or perfect for a quiet nook of your home to reflect on your own childhood memories and the simplicity and joy of childhood. A thoughtful christening or birthday gift for a child or maybe a childhood friend. I do think it ''the pleasantest thing you could do"!
Printed locally in Bristol at the amazing Letter Press Collective on Zerksll Mouldmade 175gsm paper.

Hello I am Mandy & I am passionate, dare I say obsessed with drawing children. Fuelled by the story book illustrations of my youth (Milly-Molly-Mandy is still my hero!) I strive to capture the children of today in a nostalgic, timeless style. Within my art you will find wooden stilts & floppy hair bows alongside Nike swooshes & Hijabs. I draw, paint, print, stitch, collage the universal theme of childhood innocence & wonder. I adore what I do, I hope you will too.
