This woman with peach-toned hair holds our gaze, but appears in a thoughtful reverie of her own. She wears a pastel floral top fashioned from collaged genuine 1960s wallpaper in the original artwork. This portrait is part of a series of work which studies the female gaze, beauty, vulnerability and strength, whilst pushing the boundaries of ink and watercolour, from representation into abstraction.
This is a signed and numbered limited edition of 20 unframed giclee print on heavyweight Canson Rag paper. The paper measures 30 x 40 cm and there is a slim border surrounding the image.

I'm Johanna - a painter fascinated by that magical place between abstraction and representation. My portraits appear to emerge from watery depths of paint, between splashes, drips and pools – created with layers of poured paint.
Alongside a passion for experimental mark-making, I am curious about the way we look at and represent women in particular. In a world dominated by the male gaze, I'm interested in the female one, as well as strength, vulnerability and diversity.
