Taste some of the incredible diversity of South Asian tea with this set which includes. Our exploration starts in eastern Nepal in the shadow of the Himalayas. It’s here in the Illam region, just a few hours from Darjeeling, that entrepreneurial tea farmers and factory owners have been developing exceptional styles of tea.

White tea especially has become quite a signature of Nepali tea innovation. Our White Yeti, made by the Kanchanjangha Tea Estate produces a smooth distinctive cup with notes of vanilla, spring blossoms and fresh creamy butter.

Next, we travel to the northeast to Assam. The tea plant has been growing wild in the jungles here for centuries. Today tea in Assam is mostly grown along the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River.

We source our classic New Day Assam from Assam Heritage Tea, a small family-run factory in upper Assam. Heritage Tea has broken away from the large plantation model of tea production that dominates the region and produces a range of speciality teas from sourced from a network of small holder farms.

Finally, we journey down south to the misty hills of the Nilgiri Mountains where the Tea Studio, an innovative micro-factory near the hill station of Coonoor, creates small batches of finely crafted teas using leaves produced by local farmers without use of chemicals. Dewdrop Green is a soothing rich everyday green tea with a subtle nutty sweetness.

Karma Tea Co.

camden, London

Karma Tea Co. was born in 2019 in London, UK with our founder Alison. A tea lover with a dream of making it easier for people to drink good tea, while doing good for themselves, others and the planet. Inspired by the Sanskrit कमर्म word karma, meaning “action”, we believe that what you put out in terms of your actions—good and bad—comes back to you, which is why we exist to make tea good with our range of speciality, loose whole leaf teas. Existing in an industry where the local environment and communities are routinely sacrificed for profit, with unsustainable and unethical practices, at Karma Tea Co. we believe in order to be good, you have to do good. Today, this karmic philosophy is the life force that continues to drive everything we do, from how we source our teas, to how we work with growers and the packaging we use.
