A Little Swan Tea Cup & Saucer

A tiny piece of woodland magic, made for slow cups of tea and moments worth savouring.

This whimsical handmade cup and saucer features a swan peeking over the rim, with beautifully textured feathers and a wonderfully rustic, timeworn finish. Inside, the cup is washed in a soft, watery blue — like a little glimpse of a woodland pond — while the outside has been left in a gentle, aged finish with a crackle glaze touches of gold catching the light.

The saucer is hand-shaped to sit beneath the cup, with an uneven, softly rustic edge that adds to its old-world charm.

Each cup and saucer is individually handmade in my Staffordshire studio, using stoneware clay and a mixture of hand-building and sculptural techniques, porcelain slip is used to create texture. The outside of each piece is finished in a crackle glaze and fired 3 times to create this finish. The crackle glaze is then highlighted to bring the aged look to life. Because they are made by hand, every little detail will be slightly different, making each one truly unique.

A beautiful little cup for tea, coffee or perhaps something a little more indulgent — and just as lovely sitting on a shelf when not in use.
