The story behind the business
Meet Jac Scott Gallery

I am a multi-award winning visual artist, a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors with an international exhibition portfolio spanning over 30 years.

ART PRACTICE: I love to paint unique oil paintings using impasto techniques and lush colours.

My aim is to make high quality, authentic artworks that deliver a fresh, contemporary approach to traditional still life studies. Each painting celebrates life in all its textures and colours.

"I paint pictures that are colour baths to wallow in. The cosy style should feel like a wall-based hug".

Each painting is an authentic one-off, not a duplicate in any way, painted from life and embedded with joy. When you purchase one of my artworks, you are choosing something unique, that no one else has. I have spent the last 40 years honing my skills to achieve this painting on a journey that is never over!

BACKGROUND: I have been a full-time professional artist since leaving university over 30 years ago. My art practice has encompassed a wide breadth of disciplines, but throughout drawing and painting has formed a foundation. In 2014 I decided to open my own art gallery in north Norfolk and for 11 years sold not only my own work to clients across the world, but supported many sculptors. At the end of 2025 I closed the gallery to spend more time caring for my ill husband. My art practice remains essential to my own well being.

MATERIALS: I only use the best quality, professional grade materials for my art, so be assured that when you choose one of my original works, that it will last and provide many years of pleasure.

Each antique or vintage plate is especially sourced to compliment its subject matter. That's a real fun part of the research process.

I prefer to paint from life, but having a squirming lobster or flapping fish seems cruel, so I use photographs for these studies.

I paint with Michael Harding (UK) professional hand made, ethical oils for their intense oil pigments, which are created to resist fading. However, avoiding direct sunlight is advised when choosing a location to hang your painting to ensure longevity. My painted plates are supplied with a specialist hanger.

Thank you for your interest in my work.
