'ART' - Limited Edition Letterpress Print

A limited edition letterpress print of the word ART, riffing off the symbol for the international red cross. It suggests art as medicine and calls for the preservation of artistic endeavour at all cost.

Printed using 8 layers of ink, starting with black, then 5 layers of white, and finishing with 2 layers of red. This gives a very fine hairline drop-shadow within the 1920’s cameo or white letter wood type. The white of the actual letters you see is the paper stock, a clever trick of old printers as letterpress white ink is quite transparent otherwise.
