Seems to be the new mantra for life. A very good idea, go grab you spade! Don’t be fooled by greenwash though, we must still protect those complex natural ecosystems from further destruction, whilst restoring and recreating new ones. The trees need to be suited to their environment and planted for longevity, versus token-gesture planting for short rotation pulp harvesting or the the like.
Made with a fantastic 2-colour wooden typeface attributed to ‘Bonnewell’ makers in London, mid-late 19th Century London.
A labour of love this piece, being printed in 4 separate hand-inked colour runs. The series of alternating leaf motif blocks were picked up at an architectural salvage yard in South London many years ago and if you look closely, you can see where a woodworm has made like a caterpillar and started ‘chewing on one of the leaves’!
370x500mm Vansons Rubber based ink on 280gsm Recycled Paper. Sold Unframed/mounted

Typographic prints made lovingly by hand, using age old and rare letterpress equipment from the vast and revered Hooksmith Press collection–some nearing 200 years old.
The wordsmithing is as varied as the typefaces. Hooksmith Press produces both solely text-based prints, and text accompanied by imagery (from antique advertising/pictorial plates and bold colour blocks and borders). Subjects range from, fun poetic-witticisms, nostalgic & contemporary observations/sage advice or the just plain obtuse.
