Description

Fresh from the Oven, this print is for those who have turned food into a religion, Maybe it’s also a call out to the non-active powers that be, against the prevalence of money laundering shops on the high road and the below-par offerings and appearance of such today…..Also, a wee-nod to the famous letterpress artist Amos Kennedy (USA) and his 'Coffee Makes You Black' print.

Large and bold sans woodtype, printed alongside a rare original (circa 1880-1910) 'Sheffield Made' Bread knife-’master engraved wood block’.

Hooksmith

Hooksmith Press

Leytonstone, london

Typographic prints made lovingly by hand, using age old and rare letterpress equipment from the vast and revered Hooksmith Press collection–some nearing 200 years old.

The wordsmithing is as varied as the typefaces. Hooksmith Press produces both solely text-based prints, and text accompanied by imagery (from antique advertising/pictorial plates and bold colour blocks and borders). Subjects range from, fun poetic-witticisms, nostalgic & contemporary observations/sage advice or the just plain obtuse.
