I can create a miniature wool version of your cat, or that of a loved one. These make perfect gifts for pet-lovers or even act as a memento mori to immortalise a lost pet.
Each portrait is painstakingly made using the process of needle felting using a variety of coloured wool roving. They are finished with hand-painted glass eyes and mounted on a wooden shield, painted in the colour of your choice.
Many of my past pet portraits have induced tears, so please gift these with caution!
I will need a selection of photos of your cat, from lots of angles showing all of their markings. Please let me know if there is a certain photo depicting the expression you would prefer me to work from. I will also need to know if you would like the shield in dark wood, or painted a custom colour.
As these portraits take many hours of work please allow 14 days for dispatch. ( I will adjust lead-times here according to capacity.) Please allow plenty of time if this item is needed for a special occasion. I will need your approval before posting, so please check your email regularly to avoid delay.
I have been make needle-felted pet portraits in various forms over the past 15 years. Accuracy is very important to me and I will strive to capture your pets personality and markings. Laura Cronin, aka Bumble & Earwig specialises in the creation of miniature curiosities through the medium of needle-felting.
These artworks are inspired by antique taxidermy, museum collections, scientific illustrations, and of course David Attenborough documentaries!
Every piece is painstakingly handmade, using a barbed needle to prod at wool roving thousands of times! It’s more fun than it may sound, but it does require a lot of time and patience!
