The forget-me-not’s Latin name, Myosotis, comes from the Greek for “mouse’s ear,” after the soft shape of its tiny leaves. In German folklore, a knight and his lady once walked beside a river when she noticed a cluster of small blue flowers along the bank. As he stooped to gather them, the weight of his armour pulled him into the current. As he was swept away, he called out, “Forget me not!” She wore those flowers in her hair for the rest of her days, and they became a symbol of faithful love and remembrance. The flower was later adopted by Henry IV in 1398 as his emblem during exile ~ a sign of loyalty and return ~ and centuries later by the Freemasons, as a discreet token of recognition. In older belief, forget-me-nots were worn in May to guard against witchcraft and fairy enchantment, while in the Victorian era, they were exchanged between lovers and sent to distant friends as a promise to remember.

Our medal charms are made with real flowers in sterling silver, using the traditional technique of lost wax casting. They are beautifully packaged with our signature box posy which changes with the seasons, a card detailing our favourite facts and folklore, and a gift card for a personal message.

By choosing an Albert swivel clasp (first used on Victorian watch chains), your charm needn’t stay in one place. It can move with ease between chain and bracelet, a small detail that makes a big difference.

Charms will be attached to your chosen accessory as standard. If none is selected, we'll include a seasonal ribbon choker ~ to carry your charm until you place it elsewhere.

Floriography, also known as the language of flowers, is the practice of attributing meanings and symbolism to flowers and has been recorded in traditional cultures around the world for thousands of years.
