Descriptions: All the teas are green teas and contain caffeine.

Sencha is a classic Japanese green tea known for its vibrant green colour, refreshing aroma, and crisp, grassy flavour. It is steamed, rolled, and dried to preserve its fresh taste, resulting in a brew that is both invigorating and soothing.

Genmaicha tea is a traditional Japanese blend of bancha green tea and roasted brown rice, offering a unique and comforting flavour experience. With its toasty aroma and nutty taste, it combines the grassy notes of green tea with the savoury richness of roasted grains.

Hojicha tea is a Japanese green tea known for its reddish-brown colour and unique roasted aroma. It offers a smooth, mellow flavour with subtle notes of roasted nuts and caramel, complemented by a gentle smokiness.

Karigane is prized for its subtle sweetness and low bitterness. Made in the Kukicha style, this is an unusual tea to look at. It is made from the stems and veins of the highest quality Gyokuro.

Toasted Kukicha - This tea is very unusual in style. It is made from the branches and stems of the tea rather than the leaves. These stems are then dried and toasted which creates a nutty yet smoky taste, and can be described as somewhere in between a green tea and an oolong tea. A wonderful & refreshing drink perfect for the early afternoons and pairs well with spicy food.

Bancha tea is a traditional Japanese green tea with a distinctive flavour and character. Harvested later than sencha, bancha offers a milder taste and a slightly coarser texture. It boasts a gentle, earthy flavour with subtle notes of sweetness and a refreshing finish.

Shibui Tea

Shibui Tea

Edinburgh

We are a family run tea company based in Edinburgh. We believe tea should be affordable and accessible to everyone. We keep it simple and there is no judgement on how you take your tea. It is your cuppa! We stock many different blends and there is one constant - excellent quality. We pack loads of flavour in and consistently win Great Taste Awards.

Shibui is a Japanese word and is a way of describing something which appears simple but has a complex nature. We think that this sums up tea. Tea is just your regular cuppa to most people but look into it and there is so much more to experience. We are excited to offer you lots of blends that you won’t have tried anywhere else before and perhaps you will find a new favourite.
