Karma Tea Co.

camden, London

Karma Tea Co. was born in 2019 in London, UK with our founder Alison. A tea lover with a dream of making it easier for people to drink good tea, while doing good for themselves, others and the planet. Inspired by the Sanskrit कमर्म word karma, meaning “action”, we believe that what you put out in terms of your actions—good and bad—comes back to you, which is why we exist to make tea good with our range of speciality, loose whole leaf teas. Existing in an industry where the local environment and communities are routinely sacrificed for profit, with unsustainable and unethical practices, at Karma Tea Co. we believe in order to be good, you have to do good. Today, this karmic philosophy is the life force that continues to drive everything we do, from how we source our teas, to how we work with growers and the packaging we use.

The story behind the business
Meet Karma Tea Co.

For too long the lack of transparency in the tea industry has been responsible for widespread human rights abuse and unsustainable farming practices, including the cause of mass deforestation and damage to biodiversity. We’re here to make tea good.... Unlike some mass-produced tea blends you find in supermarkets, which are typically sold as a commodity, to the detriment of the land and tea growing communities, Karma Tea Co. is different. We produce single-garden, loose whole leaf teas that celebrate the origin behind each individual tea - the growers, the communities and the terroir. Every tea is cultivated sustainably and sourced directly from tea growers, so they get a fairer price, and future generations can continue to enjoy good tea. Our teas are good by nature..... All our teas are natural and organically grown with good intentions. So, you get a delicious cup of tea, free from harmful pesticides that is as good for your health as it tastes because it’s as pure and natural as nature intended. . - We’re putting an end to bad tea Our mission goes beyond our teas. We want Karma Tea Co. to be a catalyst for change, so we’re using our voice to raise awareness of the problems that exist within the tea industry. Because the more people know about bad tea, and choose to vote with their cup, the sooner we can make good tea the norm. Our goal is to improve the lives of all workers, growers and protect local communities and environments that produce tea.
