Lemon tile - square, 3D, realistic and glossy. The bright zesty lemon is set off by the lush green glaze of the background. Other fruit and vegetable tiles in the series are on display in the background: fig, savoy cabbage, red capsicum pepper, pear, mange tout, avocado, garlic, asparagus.
Handmade ceramic tile taken from a plaster cast of a real lemon, side view with two attached leaves. Very realistic, three-dimensional, with lush coloured glazes.
Decorative eye-catching lemon feature tile – three-dimensional, very realistic and incredibly tactile - displayed on a mantelpiece alongside antique green glass.
Group of nine different tiles, displayed in a 3x3 grid. Red pepper, mange tout, avocado, pear, garlic, lemon, fig, asparagus, savoy cabbage. Original, unique Fruit and Vegetable tiles, lush green glazes, beautiful textures and colours.
Part of the process, handmade tiles drying on special racks so they dry evenly which stops warping.
Need to Know
  • This handmade and glazed tile has a realistic quality because I use a cast taken from a real lemon, therefore it is very tactile.
  • The tile is designed to be used in your home as a feature tile and can be installed using tile adhesive and grouted using traditional techniques.
  • I recommend wide joint grout.
  • A small notch in the back allows the tile to be hung on a nail like a picture. I would strongly advise using sticky fixers too.
  • The tiles are all individually hand-glazed by me and therefore may vary slightly.
  • If you choose to add a personalised note, please add your message to the 'Add a gift note' box at the Checkout.
  • Each tile approximately measures 10cm x10cm x 1cm and weighs 0.25g.
Description

A tactile handmade tile cast from a real lemon, a unique feature piece for citrus lovers...

A tactile handmade tile cast from a real lemon, a unique feature piece for citrus lovers.

My tile making adventure started with an interest in textures and repetition combined with falling in love with plaster at University. I also used to live near a vibrant street market where I was inspired by the sight of produce lovingly displayed to sell.

To make the tiles I press clay by hand into my plaster moulds and then I glaze them using some lush colours. Each one will be slightly different because of the nature of hand glazing, and the maker’s touch in these tiles is what makes them special. They are truly original, a thoughtful gift for fruit and vegetable lovers, perfect for kitchen or garden decor.
