This unique handmade tile is made from a cast of some real peas. My tile making adventure started with an interest in textures and repetition combined with falling in love with plaster at University (I did meet my husband there too but that is another story). I also used to live near a vibrant street market where I was inspired by the sight of produce lovingly displayed to sell. To make the tiles I press clay by hand into my plaster moulds and then I glaze them using some lush colours. Each one will be slightly different because of the nature of hand glazing but I believe the maker’s touch in these tiles is what makes them special. They are truly original, a thoughtful gift for anyone in your life who loves fruit and vegetables.

Need to know

This handmade and glazed tile has a realistic quality because I use a cast taken from a real savoy cabbage leaf, therefore it is very tactile.

Each tile approximately measures 10cm x10cm x 1cm and weighs 0.25g.
The tile is designed to be used in your home as a feature tile and can be installed using tile adhesive and grouted using traditional techniques. I recommend wide joint grout. I have made a notch in the back so you can also hang the tile on a nail like a picture. I would strongly advise using sticky fixers too.

I make ceramic tiles in a little studio, situated in a secluded garden where my fruit and vegetable tiles can grow alongside the apples and peas.

I have 30 years of experience designing and making bespoke tiles of all shapes and sizes. My tiles have been used in all sorts of interiors and collected as decorative objects in themselves for display on walls, shelves and mantelpieces.

I am lucky enough to do what I love, and it makes people happy too!
