As we know, well behaved women seldom make history. This decorative wall plaque is thrown as a disc on the potters wheel from white stoneware clay. Before the clay is fully dry, I apply a chintzy, floral-patterned underglaze transfer, then use a stencil to add the text “Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History” in red underglaze. Finished with transparent glaze. Fitted with a ‘Disc’ hanger.
Every item is entirely handmade by Emma and there will be some variations in size, shape, pattern repeat and finish. Photos are illustrative of the handmade item you will receive. Items sold individually.

I make high quality, functional ceramics that bring joy to your everyday.
My distinctive style combines beautiful, ergonomic forms that are thrown on the potters wheel with colourful hand-decorated designs inspired by vintage style, pop culture and traditional tattoos.
I use a wide variety of surface decoration techniques including sgraffito, transfers, screen-printing, stencilling and carving to imbue as much colour and happiness into my work as I possibly can.
