As we know, well behaved women seldom make history. This decorative wall plaque is thrown as a disc on the potters wheel from white stoneware clay. Before the clay is fully dry, I apply a chintzy, floral-patterned underglaze transfer, then use a stencil to add the text “Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History”. The Edwardian-style typeface and purple colour (on the black floral variant) are a nod to the Suffragettes’ campaign posters.. Finished with transparent glaze. Fitted with a ‘Disc’ hanger.
