Limited edition screenprint on hand-painted watercolour paper...
Limited edition screenprint on hand-painted watercolour paper.
The star of the show, Fly Agaric, is beautiful and dangerous all at once. This fairytale mushroom has been screen printed by hand onto beautifully textured Sanders Waterford paper, using eight layers of overlapping translucent inks onto a background wash of watercolour. This gives each piece its own uniqueness within the edition. The Amanita Muscaria, as it is scientifically named, is a lover of birch woodland, helping trees by transferring nutrients to their roots, and is the most iconic of all mushrooms, being steeped in history and folklore. The two in this print were spotted in the woods in Forest Row, East Sussex, where their red caps almost glowed in contrast to the mossy bed below.
Paper size: Approx 148mm x 210mm / A5 with hand-torn and deckle edges.
Due to the hand-painted layer, each artwork is slightly different within the edition.
Please note that this artwork is sold unframed. The framed image is included to illustrate the look of this piece when float mounted in a frame, displaying the paper’s pretty edges.

Hello - I’m Kath Leone, a contemporary artist and textile designer from Cape Town, South Africa.
I create limited edition screen prints inspired by nature. These are imaginative scenes and pseudo botanical compositions featuring plants, insects, animals, fungi and sea life.
Whether free-diving in Cape Town’s magical kelp forests or sketching mushrooms and mosses under a shady tree canopy in the English countryside, I am repeatedly drawn to the detailed richness of life in these varied and awe-inspiring forest environments.
