This handmade paper sculpture blue tit is made from hand printed papers in happy blue and yellow. This free standing bird sculpture is covered in hand cut feathers made from hand printed papers.

He has a yellow and white belly, with dark grey details. His back is green, with blue wings and tail. He has a blue cap, with white cheeks and a dark grey eye stripe. His feet are made from paper covered hand shaped steel wire, and his eyes are faceted shiny black beads. Each of my sculptures is unique.

It is always so delightful to find a blue tit visiting the garden. They are such delightful creatures. They often band together with other species of tit or finch, finding safety in numbers while looking for worms among your grass. Blue tits combine my favourite colours; blue and yellow. These chaps are much larger than their real life pals, so they make more of a statement on your mantelpiece.

Blue tits are the original milk thieves, known for piercing old bottle tops and making a nuisance of themselves for milkmen all over the country! They don’t crop up much in folklore, suggesting they used to stay hidden in the woods, away from human interaction. If they were stealing things in the old days, surely somebody would have written a story about a bird with such cheerful plumage!

My last date for Christmas orders is Thursday 19th December, so that I can post on Friday 20th, to make sure they catch Father Christmas's sleigh.

Welcome to the paper sculpture menagerie. My name is Kate and I make handmade paper sculptures to bring cheer to your décor. Every one of my pieces is one of a kind, made from recycled 300 gsm paper (really sturdy cardstock). Each design is tested for durability, and they are varnished with a UV protective lacquer to seal their edges and protect their vibrant colours. Each sculpture is designed, individually printed, cut, assembled and embellished entirely by hand to make sure each and every one has its own unique character. Birds are my most favourite subject. I also make flowers and other wildlife. I am inspired by countryside walks and garden visitors. I often describe myself as a seasonal maker, as I can often be found at my desk making cosy pieces in the autumn and bright, cheerful blooms in the summertime. I’ve been making my sculptures for over 15 years now, and my work aims to evoke the joy I find in the great outdoors. I do hope they make you smile.
