Description

A solid chocolate dung beetle set into a solid chocolate frame...

A solid chocolate dung beetle set into a solid chocolate frame.

This beetle and its frame are solid chocolate – that makes it 225g / 7.9oz in total!

You can choose between White, Milk or Dark chocolate – all have white chocolate decoration and will be skilfully hand painted and finished with an irridescent ‘carapace’.

This particular type of beetle comes in colours ranging from blue and violet to black and green. As in the wild, our colours vary so you can look forward to a unique colour combination when you open up your box.

A wonderful gift for animal lovers, entomologists and collectors of wonders!

(As featured on the Channel 4 TV show Extreme Chocolate Makers)

The Chocolate Dung Beetle, Violet Dor Beetle Geotrupes mutator, has been created in collaboration with entomologist Sally-Ann Spence FRES FLS, an entomologist who is passionate about this important group of insects and actively works to conserve and promote them.

Sally-Ann is an Honorary Associate of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and co-founder of Dung Beetles for Farmers. She specialises in land management, biodiversity and ecosystem functioning.
This rare species of dung beetle inhabits unimproved pasture, moor, coastal grassland and coastal heathland in Britain.
Threats to this species include removal of livestock, change of land use, soil disturbance and insecticide treatments. Its conservation requires environmentally sensitive livestock farming. The beetle’s colour can range from black to blue and from violet to green – even a mix of two of these colours.
To find out more about Sally-Ann’s work go to Berrycrofthub.

Sarah Hardy smiling and holding a chocolate skull

The Edible Museum

Halstead, Essex

Hi, I am Sarah Hardy, your friendly, eccentric, chocolate artist. Come into the museum and find animals, anatomy and ancient artefacts all magically transformed into delicious, high quality, chocolate art. Everything is hand made by artists ready for you to gift to someone special. It is important to me that each piece is unique to us, so I sculpt and make the moulds too. Only then can we get to the delicious business of hand pouring and painting your extraordinary gifts.
