This embroidered cushion is designed by Studio Ashby, an interior design and creative direction practice founded by Sophie Ashby - renowned for its appreciation of the decorative power of 'world art' and its refreshing use of colour and pattern.
Sophie Ashby takes inspiration from the photograph of David Hockney at his colourful ranch-style house on the West Coast of America to create this zesty mustard yellow linen cushion, featuring the quote, 'how lovely yellow is'.
On her collaboration with Fine Cell Work, Sophie Ashby says: "Hockney sees the world around him with a sense of play and wonder, both of which are guiding principles for what we try to do at Sister. Working with Fine Cell Work, and the inmates who have brought our vision to life with so much intention and care, is an absolute pleasure".

Fine Cell Work
London
Fine Cell Work is a charity & social enterprise committed to the rehabilitation of prisoners and prison leavers.
Our aim is to support prisoners and prison leavers to finish their sentences with skills, money earned & saved, and the self-belief to rebuild meaningful, independent, crime-free lives. We do this by teaching them soft work skills, and by training and paying them to produce exquisite needlework, create beautiful cushions & gifts for sale.
Fine Cell Work's intricately-stitched products have been created in collaboration with some of the country’s leading contemporary designers, with the majority stitched by hand in UK prisons and in our post-release workshop in Battersea, London.
