This artwork was initially art inspired by a monotone urban paste up I saw in Lisbon. This inspired me to look at the monotone butterfly called the Paper Kite butterfly (Idea leuconoe).
In the natural world, this colour palette usually serves as a warning to predators “stay away, I taste horrible”
This artwork measures 50cm with four hand glazed butterflies and four hand cut three dimensional life size butterflies. I’ve tried to capture the characteristics of this elegant butterfly when they settle in groups feeding on nectar.
