Bring some cheer to your home décor with this handmade floral wreath, featuring a sculpture of Anna's hummingbird, with his distinctive pink face, speckled white belly, and green back. He is made entirely of paper, with hand printed papers. I have used metallic lustre and also a metallic lacquer on him to give him a very shimmery quality, resembling his bird pals in the wild. This hummingbird sculpture perches on a wreath adorned with pinkish purple hydrangea blooms. He is one of a kind.
My sculptures are designed to bring cheer to your décor, capturing the joy of the natural world for your living room. All of my sculptures start out as doodles in my sketchbook, then I work out a paper model prototype with my protractor and some paper tape. Once I've made a template, I make my textured papers using traditional printmaking techniques, such as monotype and screen printing. Every sculpture has its own unique patterns, colours and textures, ensuring it is the only one of its kind. I use this paper to cover the sculpture with hand cut paper feathers, and finish with a UV protective lacquer, to seal its edges and ensure that his colours are colourfast, even if you choose to keep him hanging from your window. This hummingbird sculpture is larger than his wild counterparts, to make more of an impact on the wall.
The Aztecs believed that hummingbirds were messengers between themselves and their ancestors and the gods. They are mentioned in many folklore stories representing hope, loved ones and bringers of good luck and joy.
This handmade woodland wall hanging measures 26 cm (10 inches) tall and 22 cm (9 inches) wide. The humming bird is 10 cm (4 inches) from head to tail tip.
Made from recycled 300gsm paper (very sturdy cardstock), which has been mono screen printed with unique patterns and textures.
Varnished with a UV protective lacquer.
Hangs from the wall via a (copper coated) steel hook, suspended with invisible fishing line at a 30 cm (nearly 12 inches) drop from the top of the sculpture.
This sculpture is not a toy.
Not suitable for damp locations such as the bathroom, or outside.
Easy to care for, all it needs is a tickle from a microfibre or feather duster every now and then.
Arrives boxed, adorned with a paper ribbon bow, ready to give as a gift for yourself or your recipient.

Welcome to the paper sculpture menagerie. My name is Kate and I make handmade paper sculptures to bring cheer to your décor. Every one of my pieces is one of a kind, made from recycled 300 gsm paper (really sturdy cardstock). Each design is tested for durability, and they are varnished with a UV protective lacquer to seal their edges and protect their vibrant colours. Each sculpture is designed, individually printed, cut, assembled and embellished entirely by hand to make sure each and every one has its own unique character. Birds are my most favourite subject. I also make flowers and other wildlife. I am inspired by countryside walks and garden visitors. I often describe myself as a seasonal maker, as I can often be found at my desk making cosy pieces in the autumn and bright, cheerful blooms in the summertime. I’ve been making my sculptures for over 15 years now, and my work aims to evoke the joy I find in the great outdoors. I do hope they make you smile.
