Celebrate your love of the great outdoors with this handmade owl wall art...

Celebrate your love of the great outdoors with this handmade owl wall art.
This baby long eared owl sculpture is made from 300 GSM (very sturdy) handprinted papers, in warm copper brown and darker brown shades, with some white detail and a golden face. His colours and patterns are completely unique to him. His body and face are covered with hand cut feathers. He has black faceted bead eyes, with yellow irises, a golden beak and beige feet. He is perched on a wreath adorned with pinkish purple flowers inspired by hydrangeas, nestled in pairs surrounding him. He is one of a kind.
I use metallic lustres in my paints, which gives him and his flowers a very soft sheen; it mostly brings out the depth of the colours. You can see the texture of the recycled paper I use through the paint in the flowers.

I use traditional printing techniques such as monotype and screen printing, to give my recycled paper unique palette and patterns for each sculpture I make. Every element of my designs are handmade, from their hand cut feathers to the paper wrapped wire for the wreath. I hope to celebrate my joy and wonder of the natural world in my sculptures, to bring cheer to your décor.

Dimensions: 21 cm (8 inches) tall and wide. The owl is 10 cm (4 inches) tall and 12 cm (5 inches) wide.

Manchester

Welcome to the paper sculpture menagerie. My name is Kate and I make handmade paper sculptures to bring cheer to your décor. Every one of my pieces is one of a kind, made from recycled 300 gsm paper (really sturdy cardstock). Each design is tested for durability, and they are varnished with a UV protective lacquer to seal their edges and protect their vibrant colours. Each sculpture is designed, individually printed, cut, assembled and embellished entirely by hand to make sure each and every one has its own unique character. Birds are my most favourite subject. I also make flowers and other wildlife. I am inspired by countryside walks and garden visitors. I often describe myself as a seasonal maker, as I can often be found at my desk making cosy pieces in the autumn and bright, cheerful blooms in the summertime. I’ve been making my sculptures for over 15 years now, and my work aims to evoke the joy I find in the great outdoors. I do hope they make you smile.
