Description

This board can no longer be surfed but has kept its value by becoming an original piece of art.
What to do with damaged surfboards ? I find the shape of a surfboard very similar to that of a fish so it's very natural to blend the 2 elements together creating a piece of artwork that is just that little bit different and modern.
It adds a coastal vibe to your space with a contemporary and fun painted surfboard. An original and unique painting making a visual statement- bold, unique for your walls.
I left the deck grip on this board to add texture and visual interest as well as keeping part of its previous history visible.
Lightweight and ready to hang either horizontally or vertically.

Need to know

182 x 47 x 3 cm
Ready to hang ( 2 hanging points suitable for portrait / horizontal positions )

claudia painting fish in her studio

Claudia Hocking

Downderry, CORNWALL

Fish, surfboard art is a unique and niche concept, a natural progression from painting fish on canvases which were hung alongside display surfboards giving me the idea of combining the 2 together - fish and surfboards.

Cornwall is a county big on surfing so it's easy to get broken boards for me to paint on- the shapes are perfect for depicting a fish's streamlined body or head with the added bonus of stopping the boards going to landfill.
