Looking for an ideal lightweight every-day back pack? Well our shortwood backpack might just be the one. With plenty of space for all your essentials plus a bit extra for a “better safe than sorry” kagool when the sky is looking moody.
All our bags are made using British fabrics with water repellent finishes. The Shortwood has super comfy with wide adjustable shoulder pads lined with soft English suede. Its main compartment is easy to access with plenty of internal pockets to keep you organised. The secure buckled outer pocket construction comes straight from those classic explorer packs of the early 20th century.

Care for your Shortwood bag
A bit of hide food or simple neutral leather polish will go a long way to keep the leather clean and supple.
Our bags cannot be washed or dry-cleaned, but can be sponged gently with a soap-free damp cloth. Always allow the item to dry thoroughly after use, in a cool, airy environment. Please don’t dry on a radiator; the leather will not thank you. Reproofing wax cotton bags will maintain the waterproof qualities and extend your bag’s life.

All Portamus products are covered by a lifetime guarantee. We hope that you will be 100% satisfied with your item, however if there is a problem or a fault, please visit holly.co/customerservice for any return queries, including photos of the entire product as well as the detail of the repair/fault. We will carefully assess your bag and advise you what can be done to rectify things.
If your item is still within the statutory warranty we will endeavour in the first case to provide you with a replacement. However if this is not possible we will look to provide a repair free of charge.

Ever yearn for just honest products? Simply made by traditional methods, by someone who cares.

I don’t handmake each bag using old tools and old methods just because it’s fashionable. I do it because it’s better. All Portamus products are handmade from start to finish right here in the Stroud valleys – by me, Ben.

They’re made for the outdoors. Making the best of traditional British waterproofed fabrics and Italian vegetable tanned leather (which smells amazing). Just perfect for our predictably unpredictable weather.
