Coffee Info
Sticky Fingers is a Kenyan specialty coffee produced by smallholders from the Kibugu Farmers' Cooperative Society in Embu County. Situated on the southeastern slopes of Mount Kenya at 1700 masl, these farms benefit from nutrient-rich volcanic soils and ideal rainfall patterns that make this one of the world’s most celebrated coffee-growing regions.
This washed lot highlights the elegance of Kenyan coffee, offering layers of blackberry iced tea and gooseberry jam, balanced by crisp acidity and syrupy sweetness.
Farm / Producer Info
The Gicherori Factory operates under the Kibugu Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS), which also includes the Kathakwa, Ndunduri, Gikirima, and Ngerwe factories. Founded in 1994, the cooperative is overseen by a seven-member board elected from each zone and managed by a Secretary Manager who coordinates roughly twenty permanent staff and more than thirty seasonal workers during harvest.
This structure ensures that profits and quality improvements are shared among local farmers, strengthening both the community and the consistency of their specialty coffee production.
Region Info
Embu County lies roughly 120 kilometers northeast of Nairobi on the southeastern side of Mount Kenya. Covering 2,818 square kilometers, the region borders Tharaka Nithi, Kitui, Machakos, Murang’a, and Kirinyaga counties.
Known locally as Kirimari—meaning “top of the hill” in Kiembu—Embu’s high altitude, fertile soils, and cool climate create the perfect conditions for producing coffees with bright acidity and refined fruit character.
