Visualising the sound waves of words describing the natural world
Inspired by Landmarks, Robert McFarlane's book detailing the rich language that describes the natural world, I selected 26 words (one for each letter of the alphabet) to represent each word through data.
The data in question are sound waves of the pronunciation. Covering the breadth of the UK from south to north and from sources ranging from meteorology to myths, each illustration not only communicates the meaning of the word but the shape has been formed by the sound wave.
