Yakisugi Charred Oak Storage Pot With Handmade Ceramic Lid

A hand crafted oak storage pot ,finished using the ancient Japanese technique of charring wood .Yakisugi and topped with a handmade ceramic tile lid by Brighton artist Angela Evans.
This collection is a collaboration with Angela inspired by the kitchen garden.designed to sit beautifully on a kitchen shelf or worktop.The pots are perfect for salt,garlic,,your favourite spice mix (mine’s Zaatar) or even to put your rings in when baking.
I met Angela through Holly&Co but have long before that admired her work and often thought the contrast of the black charred wood and her beautiful vibrant tiles wood work so well together,she is from Brighton (unbelievably living round the corner).Each ceramic tile is individually handmade making each piece unique,and thoughtful gift for cooks,gardeners and lovers of handmade home wares.

Available with a choice of ceramic tile lids including garlic,lemon,avocado,asparagus,tomato,cabbage,chilli peppers and mushroom.
The colour of the wooden oak pot is a result of Yakisugi or charred. This ancient Japanese technique involves using only fire to colour ,seal and preserve the wood ,once the wood has cooled down it is wire brushed to bring out the beautiful grain ,washed and finally oiled with a natural food safe oil.
What results has a new form ,texture and presence..It really is a magical process!
