Set of 4 Yakisugi charred nibble bowls Beautiful charred snack or appetiser bowls, handmade from reclaimed oak. Set of 4.
Striking as well as practical, these are perfect for serving nibbles! Whether olives, nuts, crisps or crackers these look beautiful on any table.
Hand cut from locally sourced reclaimed oak, these bowls are then charred and lightly toasted, giving different tones to make a perfect set. Charring or Yakisugi is a traditional Japanese technique of colouring, sealing, and preserving wood using only fire. The charred bowls are then combed, sanded, washed, and rubbed down with a natural oil. Using oak that has been salvaged, fire to colour and preserve, and natural oils to finish these nibble bowls, means that they are 100% natural, and environmentally friendly.
Size of each bowl: 17 × 12 × 1.5 cm
Care instructions:
Wipe with a damp cloth after use
Use minimal detergent, avoid abrasive sponges
Don't put in the dishwasher!

Hi, I’m Hayley - a maker, obsessed with cooking, and seeing food beautifully presented.
I’ve been transforming wood, fabrics, and furniture for over 20 years, working mainly on commissions and with chefs and event designers.
Since moving to the UK in 2016, Yakisugi (or charring) has been the focus of my work.
Each item in my wooden tableware collection is designed to accentuate the colour and texture of food, as it contrasts so beautifully with the charred wood.
