This handmade paper sculpture depicts a coal tit perched on a floral wreath festooned with hydrangea blooms in delicate pink. The sculpture is one of a kind. The coal tit is made from a very sturdy recycled paper hand built base, with collaged hand cut feathers adorning his body. The process ensures his pose, markings and colour palette are unique to him.

His hydrangea wreath features hydrangea leaves and lots of blossoms, in a soft pink. Metallic lustres have been added to the inks to give the flowers and the coal tit a soft shimmer. He is varnished with a UV protective coating, which makes him perfect for a sunny spot in your house, but he's just as happy in the shade.

Coal tits have smaller beaks than other tits, so that they can enjoy conifer seeds. The collective noun for a group of coal tits is a 'banditry', due to their black caps. Isn't that delightful! They are known to be little acrobats, often found hanging upside down when searching for delicious treats.

Made from recycled 300gsm paper (very sturdy cardstock), which has been mono screen printed with unique patterns and textures.
28 cm (11 inches) tall and 26 cm (10 inches) wide.
Varnished with a UV protective lacquer.
Hangs from the wall via a (copper coated) steel hook, suspended with invisible fishing line at a 30 cm (nearly 12 inches) drop from the top of the sculpture.
This sculpture is not a toy.

Manchester

Welcome to the paper sculpture menagerie. My name is Kate and I make handmade paper sculptures to bring cheer to your décor. Every one of my pieces is one of a kind, made from recycled 300 gsm paper (really sturdy cardstock). Each design is tested for durability, and they are varnished with a UV protective lacquer to seal their edges and protect their vibrant colours. Each sculpture is designed, individually printed, cut, assembled and embellished entirely by hand to make sure each and every one has its own unique character. Birds are my most favourite subject. I also make flowers and other wildlife. I am inspired by countryside walks and garden visitors. I often describe myself as a seasonal maker, as I can often be found at my desk making cosy pieces in the autumn and bright, cheerful blooms in the summertime. I’ve been making my sculptures for over 15 years now, and my work aims to evoke the joy I find in the great outdoors. I do hope they make you smile.
