Elevate your home décor with this cheerful wall art, depicting a crested tit, perched on a leafy wreath of green foliage. The sculpture is made from recycled paper, which I have coloured using various traditional printing techniques, including monotype and screen printing. The crested tit is made from a hand built paper frame, which is adorned with hand cut feathers. The process ensures his pose, colour palette and markings are unique to him. The leaves are made from hand cut green papers. Metallic lustres have been used to bring a depth of colour and also give a slight shimmer to the paper. The chaffinch is varnished with a UV protective layer, which keeps him looking vibrant, even in the sunniest spot in your home.

The crested tit is particular about its nesting sites, and only chooses Scotland to reside in the UK. There are many more of them in Winter, when European crested tits migrate to visit their Scottish pals. They are the official emblem of the Scottish Ornithologists Club.

My last date for Christmas orders is Thursday 19th December, so that I can post on Friday 20th, to make sure they catch Father Christmas's sleigh.

Welcome to the paper sculpture menagerie. My name is Kate and I make handmade paper sculptures to bring cheer to your décor. Every one of my pieces is one of a kind, made from recycled 300 gsm paper (really sturdy cardstock). Each design is tested for durability, and they are varnished with a UV protective lacquer to seal their edges and protect their vibrant colours. Each sculpture is designed, individually printed, cut, assembled and embellished entirely by hand to make sure each and every one has its own unique character. Birds are my most favourite subject. I also make flowers and other wildlife. I am inspired by countryside walks and garden visitors. I often describe myself as a seasonal maker, as I can often be found at my desk making cosy pieces in the autumn and bright, cheerful blooms in the summertime. I’ve been making my sculptures for over 15 years now, and my work aims to evoke the joy I find in the great outdoors. I do hope they make you smile.
