Inspired by the legendary Leonard Cohen, deep sepia and brown tones to capture a contemplative and curious song-writer, poet and musician. A piece full of symbolism and rich with meaning, the striking contrast between the dark and light tones add gravitas to a man who made a huge impact and continually explored the complexities and deep contrasts of human nature. A delicate gold leaf line meanders behind the figure, gently referring not just to the famous lyric from ‘Anthem’, but also to the Japanese practice of Kintsugi where broken items are repaired with gold - making the imperfection a feature of the piece. ‘There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in’.
This is a signed and numbered limited edition of 30 giclee print based on an original ink and watercolour painting. Each edition is hand-finished with 23 carat gold leaf and printed on archival quality heavyweight canson rag paper.
It is available in 3 sizes, 30 x 40 cm, 40 x 50 cm and 60 x 80 cm. The larger 60 x 80 cm print has hand-deckled paper edges.
