Description

This pretty flower panel was inspired by the beautiful flower paintings often seen in 18th century rococo decoration. Flowers were a central theme in rococo design, in evidence in Sèvres and Nymphenburg porcelain, in chintz fabrics, and in the work of painters such as François Boucher. This era has been rich source of inspiration for us. 'Old Garden Rose' was modelled in clay on a clay base (which lends the background a subtle handmade finish) and then moulded and cast in plaster of Paris. It is one of a set of three, alongside 'Wild Rose and 'Anemone'. The panels can be purchased individually or as a set and are £300 each.

Decorative plaster sculpture displayed on a blue wall with houseplant

Geoffrey Preston

Ide, devon

Deep in the rolling hills of Devon, down a winding country lane, you might stumble across our dusty workshop. Most days you’ll find us there too, elbow deep in clay and plaster. Our collection of pretty plaster plaques are sculpted in clay and cast in plaster of Paris. They are inspired by flowers and the natural world, and by the play of light and shade. We make them for the sheer joy of it, and we hope they will bring beauty and cheer to you and your home too.
