The Handmade Ceramic Duck. Plain in appearance but not in personality.

The Duck! The O.G. Duck!

My original shape design friend without accoutrements.

This one isn't held back by carrying and holding things, he's just free and round and happy.

This is my fourth year of crafting duck friends, and whilst thinking up inspired new ideas of "things a duck can hold" I realised I'd not yet just done a...duck? Just a regular round companion to be your friend. The meme ones can be still found here.

Need to know

I start with wheel-thrown white stoneware clay, then add on hand-built ducky features and heart, underglaze the colours, biscuit fire to 900'c then transparent glaze and fire to stoneware 1220'c. At this temperature the glaze becomes glossy and smooth and you're left with a new ceramic companion.
