I love the simplicity of the Original Strinsel, with its snow-like charm, but there’s still a part of me that yearns for the twinkling lights, shiny baubles and uncoordinated colour-clashes that screamed Christmas to me when I was little. Those Christmases were in the 80s and 90s, when decorations were cheap enough to be disposable and for which we all feel terrible now, but still hold a secret lust for.

How excited was I when I realised how well the sustainable wonder-crop that is jute holds colour? Well… very, and whilst jute doesn't exactly sparkle, it certainly has a lustre that catches and reflects the light in a way cotton never will.

I've used a dark pewter dyed jute along with a lighter silvery dyed jute to create this Silver Strinsel. It's not quite sparkly, but it certainly is a grown up version of the silvery tinsel of my youth.

Each length of Jute Strinsel is approximately 2 metres. It should not be cut to size, otherwise it will all unravel and your floor will resemble the aftermath of a ticker tape parade. If you require a shorter length, feel free to contact me to discuss the option of creating a custom order.

Jute Strinsel must be kept a minimum of 1 metre away from fire, flame and other heat sources. Please do bear this in mind, especially if you use candles and/or fires (real flame or otherwise) at Christmas time. I don't use fire retardants on any of my products, but these are available to buy elsewhere in spray form should you want extra piece of mind or intend on using Strinsel in areas where this is required by law or legislation. Legally, I'm not able to offer fire retarding as a service, nor am I able to advise on this matter.

Jute Strinsel is made using Everlasto 100% Jute Twine. Everlasto products were developed at the James Lever Factory in Bolton, UK, where they've been manufacturing twine, cord and rope for over 150 years.

I keep marketing materials to a minimum and all packaging I use can be re-used, composted and/or widely recycled.
