Description
This big, cosy mug is thrown on the potters wheel from speckled stoneware clay. Before the clay is fully dry, I hand-paint the coloured parts of the tattoo design. I then coat the design in a layer of wax resist, before carving the outline through to the...
This big, cosy mug is thrown on the potters wheel from speckled stoneware clay. Before the clay is fully dry, I hand-paint the coloured parts of the tattoo design. I then coat the design in a layer of wax resist, before carving the outline through to the clay below. Once the mug is bone dry I paint black underglaze into the outline and wipe the excess off of the wax resist. Finished with transparent glaze.
Need to know
9cm tall, 10cm wide at base, 400ml- ish capacity (measurements are approximate). Every item is handmade and there will be some variations in size and shape. Dishwasher and microwave safe, gentle hand-washing recommended.
