Description

Say hello to Albert the Robin! He's a very cute boy who loves to sit in your hand for a cuddle (or to hop into someone else's hand to make the perfect Christmas gift). Would you like to knit him? It's easy – you'll find everything that you need to knit a cuddly robin inside this fun knit kit!

This beautifully presented robin knit kit is handmade in the Scottish Highlands, and contains all the yarn and notions that you need to knit Albert – just add your own pair of 4mm knitting needles, 2.75mm knitting needles and a yarn darning needle, and you're ready to go. No need to order all the different yarns and bits and pieces – you can sit back, relax, and start knitting straight away. It's all there for you!

Robins are the most delightful and friendly birds (unless you are another robin and you're in their territory, in which case, look out). My grandad used to have a friendly robin who would sit on his spade while he gardening, and ended up becoming so attached to him that he would hop into my grandad's kitchen, looking for crumbs. I've got a robin visiting my garden at the moment, who waits on the window sill for scraps in the morning - I wonder if he'll end up wanting to fly inside?

Your bird knitting kit is presented in a large, stylish gift box, and bundled up in plastic-free, recyclable packaging. This robin knit kit is the perfect, original gift for a knitter, birder, or Christmas fan - they'll love knitting Albert, and the kit includes some cute robin stickers for them to add as the finishing touch to festive gifts, too!

Need to know

Is Albert suitable for beginners? Very much so. He is simply knitted flat on a pair of 4mm knitting needles, making him an excellent project for a beginner: no need to knit in the round. Basic skills that you need to know: stocking stitch, increasing by knitting into the front and back of a stitch (inc 1) and decreasing by knitting 2 stitches together (k2tog). There’s colour-changing on some rows, so you will need to use Intarsia technique to change yarns mid-row.

What's included in your knit kit?

A full colour printed knitting pattern
5 different colours of high quality, soft DK acrylic yarn
Polyester toy stuffing
Beads and thread for eyes
Cute knitted robin stickers

Knitting needles and darning needles are not included as many knitters already own a pair - but if you'd like to add these to your kit, pairs of 4mm and 2.75mm Pony aluminium knitting needles are £2 a pair, and a pack of 2 Pony darning needles are £1.

All kit and parcel packaging is plastic-free, and recyclable.

The gift box measures 28cm x 19cm x 8cm.
Albert the Robin is 11cm tall.
