Nuthatches are such colourful and acrobatic birds - have you ever seen one running up and down a tree in the woods? They really are an incredible sight.
Each bird knitting kit is carefully handmade and packed by me, and will contain all the yarn and notions that you need to knit a cuddly nuthatch friend – simply add your own pair of 4mm knitting needles, a yarn darning needle and an ordinary sewing needle, and you're ready to go. No need to order all the different yarns and bits and pieces – you can sit back, relax, and start knitting straight away. It's all there for you!

Need to know
Is Nancy the nuthatch suitable for beginners? Very much so. She is simply knitted flat on a pair of 4mm (UK 8/ US 6) knitting needles, making her an excellent project for a beginner who knows the basics of knitting: no need to knit in the round. Basic skills that you need to know: stocking stitch, increasing by knitting into the front and back of a stitch (inc 1) and decreasing by knitting 2 stitches together (k2tog). There’s colour-changing on some rows, so you will need to use Intarsia technique to change yarns mid-row.

Knitting needles and darning needles are not included as many knitters already own a pair - but if you'd like to add these to your kit, a pair of 4mm Pony aluminium knitting needles are £2, and a pack of 2 Pony darning needles are £1.
All kit and parcel packaging is plastic-free, and recyclable.
The gift box measures 28cm x 19cm x 8cm.
Nancy the nuthatch is 20cm long.
