Five layer screenprint of a single Postman Butterfly on hand-painted Saunders Waterford paper 300gsm.
The Heliconius Melpomene got it’s common name from it’s consistent daily flight paths, also known as ‘trap-lining’ for food. Native to Central and South America, the Postman Butterfly is recognisable by it’s distinctive black and red wing markings, a warning to predators of it’s toxicity, which it acquires from it’s host plant, the passion flower.

Paper size: Approx 12x12cm with hand-torn and deckle edges.
Limited edition of 20, signed by the artist.
Please note that due to the subtle hand-painted background layer, each artwork is slightly different within the edition.
