Abstract ‘Ink Blot’ Resin Mid Century Chest of Drawers

This is a Mid Century chest of drawers with original retro details such as the matt black brass handles, and restored wooden legs.

I would say it dates from the the 1950's as is made from a plywood/pine construction and has a very modern clean lines.

The frame is painted off white in Valspar Eggshell which is a little towards a very very light beige. The paint finish has a satin sheen to contrast and frame the ‘ink blot’ patterned drawers which have a glossy surface.

The design on the drawer fronts has been created using handpainted paper which has then been cut up and collaged to create bespoke artwork. I used a monochrome palette for a striking ink blotted effect and this has then been sealed with glossy resin to create a shiny glass like appearance you will want to touch this piece all the time, trust me! The finish is also super hard-wearing and durable, and can be wiped clean easily.

To finish this piece I have enriched the interior of each drawer and the legs with a glossy clear wood oil to enhance the grain and provide a nice contrast to the paintwork, adding more character to the overall look.
