Description

This fun and easy duck knit kit is a great way for a bird-lover to relax and recharge after a hard day’s birdwatching.

Beneduck Cumberquack is a very friendly mallard duck, and he’s just the right size to sit in your hand for a comforting squeeze. I love mallard ducks, they are one of those birds that we see almost everywhere, but rarely stop to appreciate just how beautiful they are. The males with their shiny green heads, the beautiful brown-speckled females - next time you visit a park with mallards, take a minute to take in all their colours and feather patterns. Or why not knit a mallard duck or two?

Each bird knitting kit is carefully handmade and packed by me in the Scottish Highlands, and will contain all the yarn and notions that you need to knit a cuddly duck friend – simply add your own pair of 4mm knitting needles, a yarn darning needle and an ordinary sewing needle, and you're ready to go. No need to order all the different yarns and bits and pieces – you can sit back, relax, and start knitting straight away. It's all there for you!

Your duck knitting kit is presented in a large, stylish gift box, and bundled up in plastic-free, recyclable packaging. This bird knit kit is the perfect, original gift for a knitter, birder, or duck fan - they'll love knitting Beneduck, and the kit includes a cute duck button badge for them to wear, too!

Need to know

Is Beneduck suitable for beginners? Very much so. He is simply knitted flat on a pair of 4mm(UK 8/ US 6) knitting needles, making him an excellent project for an absolute beginner: no need to knit in the round. Basic skills that you need to know: stocking stitch, increasing by knitting into the front and back of a stitch (inc 1) and decreasing by knitting 2 stitches together (k2tog). There’s colour-changing on some rows, so you will need to use Intarsia technique to change yarns mid-row.

What's included in your knit kit?

A 4-page printed knitting pattern
7 different colours of high quality, soft DK acrylic yarn
Polyester toy stuffing
Black beads
Black cotton thread
A Beneduck Cumberquack button badge

Knitting needles and darning needles are not included as many knitters already own a pair - but if you'd like to add these to your kit, a pair of 4mm Pony aluminium knitting needles are £2, and a pack of 2 Pony darning needles are £1.

All kit and parcel packaging is plastic-free, and recyclable.

The gift box measures 28cm x 19cm x 8cm.
Your knitted duck is 13cm tall.
