My 'As Fresh As A Daisy' vase is hand made from stoneware clay and decorated using coloured slips, underglazes and a paper stencil technique. The phrase comes from Old English where daisies were referred to as 'day's eye' – at night the petals close over the yellow centre and during the day they re-open.

My vases are unique due to the nature of hand making and the unpredictability of the kiln firing. They are sturdy, functional and dishwasher proof. They sometimes display characteristic minor imperfections.

Camden Clay

Bath, England

Hello I'm Steve Kamlish. My thing is words on plates. I'm interested in typographic quotes, idioms and slang all related to food. The history of a word or phrase fascinates me and I love breathing new life into an obscure saying, slang or film quote.

My work is all hand made from our home studio in Bath. The kiln sits in a vault beneath the pavement of Camden Road.
