As this is a handpainted piece, it is primarily a decorative item. It's more a piece of art than an everyday kitchen utensil. Using it as a chopping board or other heavy kitchen use on the painted side risks the design being damaged.
The design is painted using acrylic paints and then sealed using an acrylic sealer. It can be wiped clean using a soft, damp cloth.
The boards I use are lovely acacia wood boards with great colour and tone of wood. These boards are 18cm x 38cm, including the handle.
