Elevate your space with a truly unique and annoying piece of art – our one-of-a-kind frameable print featuring annoying mansplaining men on an original page from a vintage mathematics textbook!

I have found a wonderful vintage mathematics textbook page, aged to perfection, and overprinted pages with a series of 1920’s metal printing blocks featuring very persistent and annoying dapperly dressed men, each with an exaggerated pointing gesture.Their poses, juxtaposed against the technical content of the textbook, evoke a playfull nod to the past.

Printed on original textbook paper in a very small edition indeed this unique piece will look great framed in an office or a school or by a bookcase at home. I guarantee this will be a conversation or argument starter.

Need to know

I was very excited to hear that his piece has been selected for the Woolwich Contemporary Print Show 2023 where it will hang alongside some of the most highly-respected printmaking artists and galleries.

So - each variation of this edition is unique because the vintage pages I am using to print on are, by definition, unique.

On display here is a representative sample of the edition so if you wish to purchase one please be in touch first via [email protected] and I can show you what is still available and then we can proceed to close the sale.

They are approximately 148.5 x 210 mm in size.

I love this piece so much and I when I nervously pulled the first one off the 1950's Ayers and Jardine Showcard press a massive smile broke out and I knew this would be a popular piece.

Whichever one you buy will be signed and numbered, backed on an oversized piece of grey card, and delivered safely in a protective sleeve.

The Garage Press

south London

My name is Simon Trewin, Founder and Chief Inkoholic. My prints, books and cards always start out with me scratching my head and thinking, “I wonder what would happen if I...." and then I am away!

Experimentation is at the heart of my practice - I love playing around with inks, vintage papers, wooden illustration blocks and historic metal type to a clanking soundtrack of my wonderful family of hand+foot operated presses. I also love classic typefaces, bold colours and an ever-present sense of how good prints can make a real instant impact. As you will see - I can rarely resist sprinkling a sense of humour in to the mix too!

Running through everything I do is my passion to help keep heritage crafts alive and to enjoy that sense of a historical connection to the printers, presses and ephemera that have come before me. I also truly believe in the benefits of slowing down, switching off and zoning into the deep focus that this process of discovery inspires in me.

In a world where everything is too fast, I enjoy nothing more than closing my studio door and diving into the rich and ever-rewarding world of letterpress printmaking.
