This handmade paper sculpture depicts a firecrest perched on a tree stump. The firecrest is one of England's smallest garden birds, and has such lovely markings, depicted here in hand cut feathers made from handprinted papers. His wings are striped white and grey and his back is olive green. He has a yellow-orange crest and a pale cream belly. He perches on a tree stump adorned with paper lichen and foliage. This piece is one of a kind.

Made from recycled 300gsm paper (very sturdy cardstock), which has been mono screen printed with unique patterns and textures. The legs of the bird are steel wire and the tree trunk base is built upon a terracotta pot, which gives the trunk strength and a bit of weight for stability.
17 cm (just over 6 inches) tall and 17 cm (just over 6 inches) wide. The bird is 9 cm (3.5 inches) tall and 12 cm (nearly 5 inches) from tail to beak.
Varnished with a UV protective lacquer.
The base of this sculpture has a cork pad to prevent this piece from marking your furniture. The base is 9 cm ( nearly 5 inches) in diameter.
This sculpture is not a toy.
Not suitable for damp locations such as the bathroom, or outside.
Easy to care for, all it needs is a tickle from a microfibre or feather duster every now and then.
Arrives boxed, adorned with a paper ribbon bow, ready to give as a gift for yourself or your recipient.

Welcome to the paper sculpture menagerie. My name is Kate and I make handmade paper sculptures to bring cheer to your décor. Every one of my pieces is one of a kind, made from recycled 300 gsm paper (really sturdy cardstock). Each design is tested for durability, and they are varnished with a UV protective lacquer to seal their edges and protect their vibrant colours. Each sculpture is designed, individually printed, cut, assembled and embellished entirely by hand to make sure each and every one has its own unique character. Birds are my most favourite subject. I also make flowers and other wildlife. I am inspired by countryside walks and garden visitors. I often describe myself as a seasonal maker, as I can often be found at my desk making cosy pieces in the autumn and bright, cheerful blooms in the summertime. I’ve been making my sculptures for over 15 years now, and my work aims to evoke the joy I find in the great outdoors. I do hope they make you smile.
